As we enter the new millennium, Wm. Hoekstra & Sons, Inc. is now spanning into the fourth generation of this family owned and operated business. This company dates back to 1940 when William was farming with his father, John. From that point, William joined his brother Tunis in forming Hoekstra Brothers, located in St. Anne, Illinois. Bill had two sons, Bob and Jerry, as they joined the business, Bill and Tune split their partnership. In 1967 Bill, Bob and Jerry began the company as it is known today, Wm. Hoekstra & Sons, Inc.

In the mid-eighties Bob and Jerry's sons, Steve, Tom and David joined Wm. Hoekstra & Sons as the fourth generation to become involved in the family business, and are active in the management of this diverse enterprise, which today includes, farming, trucking, irrigation sales, warehousing and logistics services.

St. Anne, Illinois is located in an area that is rich in farmland that is suitable for producing grain, vegetable and flowers. The Hoekstra's have been involved with specialty crops since the time the family settled in this area from the Netherlands in 1850. Along with corn and soybeans, the Hoekstra's have specialized and excelled in the production of potatoes and jack-o-lantern pumpkins. Since the 1950's Hoekstra's have proven Illinois potatoes to be a viable player in the chipping industry.

While primarily involved in production agriculture, the Hoekstra's were also involved in truck farming to broker, produce and transport their own product to market. In the mid-eighties the business had another opportunity to diversify and purchase a truck and a small paper hauling contract. This was the seed of what has grown to become the transportation division of Wm. Hoekstra & Sons. With the introduction of deregulation and the ability to provide excellent service, this portion of the business has seen steady growth since its beginning.
